We all play MMOs but man, sometimes I can only log in for an hour, two hours and with Adventures you can still experience all the cool stuff the game has to offer. It is really one of the things that makes RIFT special. If you’re familiar with our instant adventure system, you’ll be able to use that system to group up and up to a raid then go into a pocket dimension of one of the other planes.Įric: For some of our more advanced content, we have Intrepid and Instant Adventures and now Planar Assault Adventures. So we’re introducing what we’re calling Planar Assault Adventures. We had Nightmare Rifts and I really wanted there to be a way for players, who want to hunt rifts, to be together. One of the things is we’ve introduced these new RIFT mechanics in the past, like we had Hunt Rifts and Storm Legion and Nightmare Tide. Having not spent much time in RIFT recently, I took the opportunity to ask if there have been any changes, from a guild format, with the new changes as the ability to work and play together has always been something my friends in RIFT have always been big on.

Now, if you upgrade it to Legendary, instead of just doing the normal effect you’ll also have a large effect that, maybe, gives your whole party a 5% boost to natural shielding. Julia: For an example, you’re going Paladin and you upgrade your Pacifying Strike (which is one of their basic attacks). You get five points over the five level span and you’ll be able to make that ability do something different – build changing and unique. So, with a Legendary Ability you’ll take one of the base abilities of one of your three souls (per point). Julia: From level 65 to 70 you will get a point at each level that you’ll be able to use to upgrade an ability into a Legendary Ability.Įric: Legendary abilities are really exciting because in RIFT one of the foundations is building your character, because we have much more flexibility than any other MMO in how you build characters and we really want to stack on that and give players more customization options. I opened the interview with asking about a key features of the expansion – the level cap increase that will bring with it Legendary Abilities. I was able to sneak a few of them and grab some time with the RIFT team, specifically Lead Designer Julia Adams-Esgrow and Senior Community Manager Eric Cleaver.

This was, for me, to get some interview time and to grab some amazing in-game loot codes (that included the racing Snail mount). During MMO Central’s PAX West efforts, we were able to grab some time in the Trion Worlds booth.
